Hoyt Genealogy Site Update

Posted on: 11-12-2010 Posted in: Hoyt

I’ve added quite a number of new family photos at the “Hoyt Family Genealogy” website today… all scanned, resized, cleaned up and uploaded, fueled by just one cup of coffee!

I’ve also uploaded a newer gedcom file to the site with new individuals added. Needless to say the family tree is added to and updated at least weekly if not daily, always a work in progress.

Going back to the photos added today, you may notice that nearly all of the family photos on the site are from the collection of Catherine Odessa Hoyt, or Auntie Peg as she was known to all of her beloved nieces and nephews.

Without the photographs that Auntie Peg kept through all of the years there would be very few surviving of our family members to share. But she contributed so much more to this family history. It was to her that I turned so many years ago for the information that I needed to begin my research. I have so many cherished memories of sitting at her kitchen table as she did her very best to recall dates and places and family connections.

One of my favorite stories that she and Uncle Frank (Edward Franklin Hoyt) shared with me was their early childhood memory of a fire engine careening around the corner of their street at full speed, pulled by a team of wild-eyed, thundering horses as they stood and watched terrified and fascinated!

I’m forever indebted to her for all that she shared with me and all that she continues to share through the photos that she left to us and the stories that lead to the discovery of many of our ancestors. She will always be so much a part of us.  ♥

If anyone has old family photos that you’d like to share please email them to: mardi [@] mardistudio.com (minus the brackets!).
